When Windows 10 was released back in 2015, the Store app in Windows 10 had many issues. The Store app continues to be a nightmare for many users, but Microsoft has managed fix most of the issues over the past two and half years.
PC users had absolutely no ways to resolve Store app issues during the initial days of Windows 10. Luckily, we now have multiple options to address Store app issues as we can now reset the Store app or reinstall the Store app via PowerShell.
Starting with Windows 10 Spring Creators Update (v1803), there is an easy way to reinstall the Store app. You can now use the Settings app to reinstall the Store app in Windows 10. In short, when you perform a Store reset job via the Settings, Windows 10 reinstalls the Store app.
Users who are experiencing issues with the Store app can now reinstall the Store app by just resetting it.
Reinstalling the Store app in Windows 10
In this guide, we will see how to reinstall the Store app via Settings in Windows 10.
IMPORTANT: You must be running Windows 10 Spring Creators Update (version 1803) or later version to reinstall the Store app via Settings. If you are on an earlier version, please refer to our how to reinstall the Store app via PowerShell guide.
Step 1: Navigate to Settings app > Apps > Apps & features.
Step 2: You will now see all installed apps. Scroll down the list to see Microsoft Store entry.
Step 3: Click on the Microsoft Store entry to reveal the Advanced options link. Click on Advanced options link.
Step 4: Scroll down to the Reset section. As you can see in the picture, the Reset section says that “It this app is not working right, reset it. This app will be reinstalled and revert to its default settings. Your documents will not be affected”.
Click the Reset button. When you see the confirmation dialog, click the Reset button again to reinstall the Store app.
Note that the Store app might not work for some time after resetting or reinstalling it.
